Training Programs

Andrewโ€™s training programs are specifically tailored for you and your canine. Every dog is an individual with a different personality, breed traits, and needs that require human respect and understanding. Upon meeting you and your dog, Andrew will holistically assess your dog and consult with you about feeding, wellness, and your training goals. Imbalances in your dogโ€™s health or nutrition can create unwanted behaviors and may need to be addressed prior to or during training. While Andrew will be sure your dog has a basic foundation of good manners, they will also work to correct or manage any issues related to your familyโ€™s safety and well-being. Andrew uses a wide variety of tools and methods to help you respectfully communicate with your dog, with the least amount of conflict. If your dog likes other dogs, or if you need to help socialize your dog, Andrewโ€™s Canine Department of well-balanced dogs will show your dog how to play or just hang out and be a dog. This way of training is not only super fun but will also create a lifelong special bond between you and your companion.

Andrew has worked very closely with Korean K9. In 2023, Andrew curated a dog training seminar on Bundang, South Korea at Korean K9โ€™s facility.

Andrew Solis (they/them)

Andrew Solis is a Professional Dog Trainer, servicing the NYC area.

Born to Salvadorian parents and raised in Los Angeles, they realized an innate connection to animals and began rescuing dogs, cats, and other wildlife as a young child and has never strayed far from their true calling.

Andrew is grateful for the guidance and friendship of his mentor, Gina Boehler (Executive Director KK9), who inspired, valued, and supported his start in working hands-on to rescue, train and rehabilitate many dogs who experienced trauma, in NYC. Korean K9 is a non-profit organization that saves dogs from the meat trade, puppy mills, and high-kill shelters in South Korea.

Andrewโ€™s training style is customized to help the dog in front of them.  They consider each individual dog in a holistic manner tailoring a program unique to each being.  They are known for their special skill in handling the beautiful, but sometimes mysterious, ancient dog breed: Jindo.

Many of the rescued dogs Andrew works with have experienced extreme trauma and need behavior modification and rehabilitation to move out of states of excessive fear, reactivity, aggression, and mistrust of humans and themselves.  As a broad-spectrum trainer, Andrew works with any dog, any age, any issue, and teaches basic obedience, good leash manners, and corrects nuisance behaviors (jumping, barking, separation anxiety, potty accidents, etc). Andrew helps pawrents build strong relationships with their dogs andโ€ฆ. of course, loves working with puppies- because every dog deserves training!

In their free time, Andrew enjoys cooking vegan delights, camping, queer artistry, cycling, and gardening with their partner and their pack of rescues; Jolie (Springer Spaniel/Pit), Louie (Hairless Chihuahua), Ruby (Jindo/Chihuahua) & the mighty Miro (Maltese), Mango (Korean Village Dog) & Samosa (Jindo-Mix).
